Eva Shaw, Ph.D., is self-taught and came to painting in her sixties after surviving breast cancer. She’s happiest when encouraging the love of art to those who may not traditionally think that art is for them. “If my art makes someone smile or laugh, I’m honored. That’s my goal.”
Eva is a much-published author and her most recent books are the Beatrix Patterson mystery series: The Seer, The Finder, The Pursuer and the forthcoming The Conductor (2025).
She is a university professor, ghostwriter, avid gardener and passionate volunteer with her church, in the community, and the American Cancer Society, Border Compassion, Days for Girls International, Welsh Terrier Rescue and other causes. She’s a devoted dog mom to Welsh Terrier, Coco Rose, who reluctantly and impatiently waits for total attention and long walks. She’s a rabid reader devouring mysteries, thrillers, travel and memoirs.
Little known facts? Eva is addicted to travel having visited more than 35 countries. She also plays the banjolele, which is a hybrid of the ukulele and the banjo, with a robust sound. “It looks like what Kermit the Frog played in the swamp.”
She lives, thrives and paints in Carlsbad, California.
